All Graduate Medical Education residents are required to follow a structured curriculum for their specific area of study. In Internal Medicine, this includes Inpatient Medicine. The challenge that our leaders were facing at the residency program I worked at was crafting a curriculum that matched the level of education they were providing; a standardized core curriculum that followed regulatory guidelines and created an environment for evidence-based medicine. In collaboration with various subject matter experts, I worked to create individual curricula that reflected the level of competency, as well as rotational goals, expected for each post-graduate year.
